Gok brings budget style to Bristol

Gok WanGok’s Clothes Roadshow strutted into Cabot Circus this week, attracting thousands of fashionistas eager to see this season’s looks.

Gok Wan is known for his unique take on high street fashion, so the MyStreetChic.com girls were eager to see what his interpretation of this season’s trends would be when his Clothes Roadshow came to Cabot Circus this week.

Three Bristol women were treated to Auntie Gok’s special style makeover, swapping dowdy tracksuit bottoms for fabulous dresses. “It’s been absolutely fantastic. Gok’s advice was absolutely superb,” said one of his new converts, modelling a stunning red maxi dress slashed to the thigh.

Friends and family of the makeover trio were also in the crowd, with several of them bursting into tears when their loved ones appeared on stage to whoops and cheers from the crowd.

The audience were then shown two collections – one made up of outfits costing less than £50 each, and the other with looks worth £250. Bristol’s fashion hungry hordes were then asked to vote for which collection they preferred and called upon to guess which was the more expensive.

A Studio 54 style metallic jumpsuit sashayed past us on the runway, as did sixties mod-style macs, platform leopard print and studded heels, and a rather fabulous mustard shift dress. We’ll leave you to watch the final show to find out which collection Bristol chose as their favourite.

Gok strutted down the catwalk in a fitted navy suit and stacked Cuban heels, amazing Bristol’s street stylistas by guessing one woman’s bra size from more than 20 feet away.

Bristol’s fashion bloggers were out in force, with SJP of Ship Shape and Bristol Fashion, Hayley of Ceriselle and Frances from Fashion Fantasist all turning out to check out Gok’s wares.

We can exclusively reveal that all three MyStreetChic.com girls in attendance – Editor Gina, Staff Writer Sian and student fashion ambassador George all chose the same collection as their favourite, and we were backed up by the majority of Bristol fashionistas. We were also interviewed exclusively for Channel 4 after the show, so watch out for us when Gok’s new series returns to our screens.

The show will air on Tuesday 27 September on Channel 4.
